FEAR STREET: PROM QUEEN Trailer Shows the Scariest Shadyside Story So Far

Fear Street is back, baby! The first three films brought R.L. Stine’s lesser known yet still chilling book series to life and introduced us to Shadyside. In 1994, Deena Johnson broke a generational curse over her community and exposed the very bad Goode family for their sinister deeds. While there was a mid-credits scene that piqued interest in a sequel, the next Fear Street film won’t be about these characters again. The trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen takes us back to Shadyside High School in 1988 for more blood and gore.

It is Prom Night and the most popular girls in school are competing for the coveted title of Prom Queen. Candidates start to go missing and it just might be because of a new nominee who doesn’t quite fit the mold.

In the trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen, “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” by Belinda Carlisle plays in the background as we are drenched in ’80s visuals. And while there may be some form of Heaven on this planet, it certainly ain’t at Shadyside High School. From the fierce competition among the girls to that hooded and masked figure with an axe chasing people around at prom, this is not good. We could be seeing the bloodiest installment in this franchise, and that’s a good thing.

The cast for Fear Street: Prom Queen features India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Ariana Greenblatt, Lily Taylor, and Katherine Waterson. The film is written by Donald McLeary and Matt Palmer, who also directs this installment. We will see if he can capture the essence of catty high school girlies in the late ‘80s.
