Video games as we know them have only been around for half a century, give or take. But in that time, we’ve seen a metric ton of game consoles released to the public. And there is one person out there who actually managed to buy nearly all of them. We’re talking over 2,4000 different machines. And now, via DesignTaxi, we’ve learned that after accumulating such an incredible collection, the owner has decided to sell the whole thing on eBay for a considerable sum of $1 million dollars. You can see a photo from the eBay listing of just a portion of this jaw-dropping collection right here:
This is all happening thanks to a French collector going by the handle Kariaure. And according to their eBay listing, they’ve had quite an intense journey with their console collecting. This hobby all began in the early’90s. As the 2000s rolled in, they sold it all. Sometime later, they picked up the hobby anew, and then in 2011, they stopped again. Finally, in 2018, while on a trip visiting Japan, the itch came back even stronger. And they bought every game they once sold off. And thus, the collection grew to its current size, containing just about every console known to humankind.
If they do manage to sell it all, we think they’d have a hard time ever coming close to amassing such a collection again. And really, where does one even store such a thing? We really can’t blame them for selling it off. For some avid gamer out there though, this is going to be too good an opportunity to resist. If you’re a wealthy video game historian with a disposable income, and you want this truly legendary collection from Kaori30, you can head over to eBay to check out its listing. The current “Buy It Now” price is set at €984,000 EUR, a.k.a a million bucks American.
