HBO has turned its spice machine back on. The network announced production has officially begun on Dune: Prophecy season two. And it’s doing so with some incredible new faces. HBO also revealed Indira Varma, Tom Hollander, and Ashley Walters have joined the cast as new characters.

Production on Dune: Prophecy season two is now underway. The show’s eight-episode sophomore outing from showrunner Alison Schapker is filming in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain. To celebrate this news, HBO released a behind-the-scenes video from the production.
Dune: Prophecy is doing so with some fantastic new members in the cast. Varma (Game of Thrones, Obi-Wan Kenobi), Hollander (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, The White Lotus), and Walters (Adolescence, Bullet Boy) have signed onto the show. HBO did not announce who any of the three will play.
But we do know who these new Dune: Prophecy cast members will be filming with. Many season one stars are also back. That includes fan favorites such as Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.

Season two of Dune: Prophecy will also see Jessica Barden and Emma Canning return, indicating we will get more flashbacks involving the young Harkonnen sisters at the center of this prequel story. Knowing the show—which takes place 10,000 years prior to the rise of Paul Atreides—will once again span multiple generations makes it even harder to guess who its three new stars could be playing.
Finally, HBO gave us just a couple of brief glimpses from Dune: Prophecy season two itself in its trailer for 2026 programming.
With production of Dune: Prophecy season two now officially underway, we will likely find out their characters sooner than later. As for when the show will actually return for its second season on HBO? HBO officially confirms that it will arrive in 2026.

We certainly hope to see Dune: Prophecy so soon, but we can’t see into the future to tell you exactly when in 2026 it will arrive. We’re not the Kwisatz Haderach. We won’t show up for another 10,000 years anyway.
Editor’s Note: Dune: Prophecy is a Legendary Entertainment production. Nerdist is a subsidiary of Legendary Digital Networks.
