Christmas 2020 Gets an Hour-Long Dumpster Fire Yule Log

The most wonderful time of the year looks like it will be a little less wonderful in 2020. Many of us won’t be able to spend the holidays with our loved ones. And no matter where or how we celebrate, it’s hard to forget we’re currently living in :looks around sadly: all of this. But we haven’t lost our Christmas spirit entirely. We’re still decorating and planning to enjoy the day as best we can. Now we have the perfect way to adorn our homes in a manner that honors both the season and the harsh reality we’ll all be experiencing it under. This Christmas Eve we’re tuning into this hour long dumpster fire yule log video.

The team at AM/FM has created the most appropriate virtual yule log for this Scrooge of a year. Their 2020 Xmas Dumpster Fire YouTube video (which we first heard about at Laughing Squid) is a “cathartic finale for what has been a year none of us will forget… even though that’s exactly what we’d all like to do.” It serves up 60 minutes of a glowing, warming, serene stink fest that serves as the ultimate symbol for the last twelve months.

Fortunately this one was never in danger of contributing to our never-ending woes. AM/FM says this video was made “in a controlled environment outside of city limits with safety precautions in place.”

You know, if you zoomed in on the flames themselves you might even confuse this for a nice, cozy fireplace being maintained by dad as he waits for the kiddos to go to sleep on Christmas Eve. There’s even gentle holiday music. And don’t forget the stockings! Ah, what a nice thought. One that evokes tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago.

But you can’t zoom in. It’s a static video and that’s definitely a dumpster fire.

Christmas or no, this is still 2020 we’re talking about.
