Dolly Parton’s New Ice Cream Supports a Good Cause

Whenever we think we can’t love Dolly Parton any more than we already do, she goes ahead and gives us yet another reason to sing her praises. Whether she’s backing COVID vaccines or making Stephen Colbert cry, she’s the best. Her latest project might be the sweetest, and we mean that literally. She has partnered with Jeni’s for a special Dolly Parton-inspired ice cream flavor. And in true Dolly fashion, it’s for a good cause.

After teasing us with a tantalizing taste earlier this month, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has finally revealed their Dolly Parton pint. Strawberry Pretzel Pie is the company’s “ode to the Queen of Country and a throwback to the triple decker pie from the potlucks of our youths.” It features “layers of salty pretzel streusel, subtly sweet and effortlessly tangy cream cheese ice cream, and lipstick red strawberry sauce.” Gonna be honest—I would eat that even if it weren’t a tribute to the legendary musician.

But what makes this extra tasty is that it’s helping a good cause. A portion of proceeds from Strawberry Pretzel Pie will go to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. This program gives free books to kids up to age five.

If you want some, don’t delay when it goes on sale in shops and at Jeni’s website starting at noon ET on April 8. These pints won’t last long. From Jeni’s:

“This is a limited flavor—we made one run, about 10k pints—and based on our recent releases, we expect it to SELL VERY FAST. To give everybody an equal shot of getting it, most of the pints will be available online for nationwide shipping. The remainder will be split across our shops. If you prefer to buy the flavor from your neighborhood shop, we recommend getting there early (like before open) on release day. Otherwise, your best bet will be to buy it online at noon the day it drops. We can’t guarantee availability (or reserve pints), so please plan accordingly!”

To help ensure more people get a chance to try it, sales will be limited to two pints per purchase. Of course they will be. Whether it’s ice cream, charity, or both, Dolly Parton always tries to make sure everyone is served.
