We can never get enough unlikely animal friendship news here at Nerdist. Thankfully, The Dodo clearly feels the same way. To brighten your day, here’s a video of a dog that loves taking a horseback ride on his favorite horse. They have been friends for three years since owner Emily brought Robin the puppy home and placed him on the back of Teddy the horse. Now they enjoy playing together and going on adventures.
The adorable dog gets a boost from his owner to make it up for his horseback ride. Teddy seems to tolerate the arrangement just fine and is shown going about her business with a dog on her back, sometimes sitting side-saddle or even standing. They run in the snow, they chase frisbees, always together.
When he’s not riding the horse, Robin is trying to race her. Like any dog, he feels the need to be out front on their excursions. But the horse is much faster and once they get running, the dog quickly falls behind. Owner Emily narrates their good-hearted races with amusement. She also shares hidden camera footage of the dog and horse working together to steal carrots behind her back.
We learned about these friends thanks to Laughing Squid. The Odd Couples playlist on The Dodo’s YouTube channel has many other great videos of animal friendships around the world. Treat yourself and watch them all!
It’s always reassuring to know that dogs are more than just man’s best friend. Thanks to the internet, we see that they also share bonds with baby cheetahs in zoos, a rescued sloth, and even dolphins at the aquarium.
