DOCTOR STRANGE 2 Trailer Offers Zombies and WANDAVISION Nightmares

Nightmares are on the menu in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ latest trailer. For Stephen Strange, those nightmares involve one Christine Palmer getting married. But for Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, these Doctor Strange nightmares feel even darker. This Multiverse of Madness trailer takes us all the way back to WandaVision as we get a look at Scarlet Witch’s pain. As if that weren’t enough, we get a heaping teaspoon of the zombies we’ll meet in Doctor Strange 2 for good measure.

Those of you who tuned into WandaVision may recall that at the end of the series, Wanda gave up the family she created with a mixture of magic and grief. But in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, this loss still haunts her. The loss of her children, Billy and Tommy (also known as Wiccan and Speed), remains especially painful for Wanda. Of course, Doctor Strange‘s sequel will revolve around the idea of Marvel’s multiverse. So it’s possible that somewhere out there, in all those universes, different variants of Wanda’s children still exist. The MCU has teased the idea of a Young Avengers team, after all. Something which America Chavez’s presence in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness makes even more likely.

But a key question we have is whether the loss of them has driven Wanda into villainous territory in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Scarlet Witch has terrifying powers. And the possibility of her existing as an evil force is chilling.

But not quite as chilling as Zombie Wanda, which we see more clearly than ever in this trailer. She’s also joined by zombie Doctor Strange. Honestly, this zombie duo seems best kept separate, if you ask us. We already saw an MCU version of Zombie Scarlet Witch and Zombie Doctor Strange in Disney+’s What If…? But we wonder if zombies will play an even bigger role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Zombies are scary, and the MCU’s zombies are no different, but we do love them.

We guess we’ll have to wait and see. Marvel released several new posters for  Doctor Strange 2 to celebrate tickets for the movie going on sale. And they all hint toward a plethora of variants. We can expect Doctor Strange variants, Scarlet Witch variants, and probably even more variants than that. And they could all lead to yet more MCU content.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres on May 5.
