Normally the last two things you’d want associated with a restaurant are mice and bugs. But that’s exactly what families will be looking for when they board the Mouse House’s all-new Disney Wish. The luxury cruise line will feature an immersive Marvel dining experience when it makes its maiden voyage next summer. And now we have all the details about the Avengers: Quantum Encounter restaurant.
Disney Cruise Line says it is upping the “ant-e” with a “first-of-its-kind” dining option with the Avengers: Quantum Encounter restaurant. It’s part of the new Disney Wish ship set to launch in June, 2022. Guests will be doing more than just eating though. They’ll be part of a story and “play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around them.” All while enjoying a “worldly menu” inspired by the MCU.
The encounter will follow Ant-Man and The Wasp. They’re on their first official public speaking engagement for the Avengers. That’s when the problems will start. From Disney’s press release:
“Anxious to impress, they are hosting a special presentation of the most powerful Super Hero technologies, such as Captain America’s shield, Iron Man’s arc reactor and Ant-Man’s Pym Particles, giving guests an up-close look at holographic models, field reports and iconic scenes from Marvel movies displayed on the screens surrounding the room.
The highlight of this special event is a hands-on demonstration of the latest and greatest Pym Tech, the Quantum Core, which uses cutting-edge — and highly unstable — technology to shrink and grow targets at the push of a button. A few “misfires” result in hilarious Ant-Man-style hijinks, but the real trouble begins when an unexpected villain shows up with a fearsome army in tow, eager to get their hands on this powerful quantum technology. Ant-Man and The Wasp will need all the help they can get to save the day, calling on Captain America, Captain Marvel and the brave diners of the Disney Wish for back-up.”
Each table comes with an interactive Quantum Core. The new device “can cause objects to shrink and grow remotely.” That will let diners help Ant-Man and The Wasp as the adventure unfolds. The duo will attempt “small-scale trials,” like shrinking oversized luggage. However, the real fun starts when enough guests activate enough Quantum Cores simultaneously. That will cause the entire venue to “become supercharged as energy pulses through the power channels in the walls and ceiling.”
The room will also come “with state-of-the-art Pym Tech and decked out in signature Stark-itecture style.” And it will feature Worlds of Marvel surprises and Easter eggs throughout the restaurant. It’s Marvel; you can’t get away from Easter eggs.
When diners aren’t roleplaying, they’ll be eating dishes inspired by iconic MCU locales. That includes dishes from African Wakanda, Eastern European Sokovia, and New York City. No matter what guests order, everyone will be happy a mouse made some bugs a big part of the restaurant.
