Dark Side of the Moon and Star Wars Go Together Like Aunt Beru and Blue Milk

We’ve all heard of how Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon syncs perfectly with the movie The Wizard of Oz, and chances are strong that some of us have a story of gathering together with a group of friends in high school to watch it. Of course, once you’ve watched the Pink Floyd version of The Wizard of Oz, the entire affair loses a bit of its allure. Well fear not, kids, there is a brand new movie you can sync with Pink Floyd’s iconic album: The Force Awakens.

I know. It’s weird, but stick with me.

Reddit user knnl recently  graced the internet with their discovery of how the film syncs with the album. Essentially, you can play the album through three times, and you start the music just after the crawl. If you aren’t sure if you’ve got the syncing right, knnl says that the screams at the end of “Speak to Me” sync up with BB-8 running after the ships on Jakku.

Some of the highlights of the syncing? The lyric, “I’m not afraid of dying, anytime will do,” plays right after Poe wakes up while being tortured by Kylo Ren, and when Rey meets Han and Chewie the lyric, “Home, home again. I like to be here when I can,” plays. The entire thing is pretty cool, and if nothing else you’ve got to admire knnl’s dedication to making the sync up work.

But does the sync really work? See for yourself! Check out this video with the first few minutes of The Force Awakens synced to the album (I’d like to think Kylo Ren watches the film synced with the album all.the.time.):

Have you ever watched Wizard of Oz synced to Dark Side of the Moon? Do you think the album syncs up to Force Awakens, or do you think it’s just internet conspiracy? Do you think the album syncs up with another film more naturally? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
