The Golden Globes is one of the biggest awards ceremonies in the entertainment industry. It’s a night where some of the biggest stars come out in their finest clothes and hope to secure a coveted award. Even if they don’t win, it’s certainly a swanky event to hang out at and be seen, right? Well, this year’s Golden Globes will be missing a major star who is known for her incredible acting chops, mind-blowing singing voice, and her unique sense of style: Cynthia Erivo. She’s missing the 83rd Golden Globes because she’s gearing up to play Dracula and 22 other characters in her one-woman production on the West End.

Her adaptation of the iconic Gothic horror figure and story is set to make its debut on February 4. And because the team is so deep into production across the pond in London, that means Cynthia Erivo cannot slip away to head to Los Angeles to attend the Golden Globes. She’s nominated in the lead actress category for a comedy or musical for her role as Elphaba in Wicked: For Good.
And considering the film’s popularity and critical praise, it would not be shocking if she wins. Perhaps she will have a pre-recorded thank you speech to share with everyone. Either way, it is very cool to miss an event because you are playing Dracula and 22 other characters onstage in London.
