CRITICAL ROLE Meets THE SIMPSONS to Form Bart the Bard

There are some crossovers so amazing we couldn’t have even DREAMED up their existence, but once they come to life, we don’t know how we ever lived without them. And that’s exactly the category that this Critical Role x The Simpsons crossover falls into. What a combination! But it makes a lot of sense when you stop and think about it. Both Critical Role and The Simpsons feature an endless array of voice talents that bring characters into increasingly epic and insane worlds. And the storytelling in both universes is unparalleled. We feel like this meeting of the minds breaks our brains, but in the best way. Below, you can check out long-time The Simpsons voice actress Nancy Cartwright, who voices Bart Simpson, talk Bart’s Dungeons & Dragons class with Critical Role‘s Matt Mercer. The outcome of this The Simpsons meets Critical Role mash-up? Bart the Bard is born.

Yep. We can see it already. A The Simpsons goes Dungeons & Dragons episode featuring Critical Role voice talent like Matt Mercer. We know there are executives somewhere out there already scrambling to make this a reality, and we are 100% behind them. For now, we have a little taste of what that might look like as Nancy Cartwright and Matt Mercer bring Bart the Bard to life in front of our eyes.

Matt Mercer shares his take on what the Dungeons & Dragons class of this The Simpsons character would be without missing a beat. He notes, “A Bard. Bart the Bard would work well just because of the high charisma aspect of it, the mulit-, jack of all trades skill scenerio, and depending on the build, literally having insults as a defense/attack mechanism. To dress others down and have that diminish their capabilities and eventually send them fleeing into the distance, I think, very much sits in his realm of expertise. A very acerbic, witty, insult-based Bard.”
