Check Out the Cover For Sam Maggs’ New Book CON QUEST!

Author, host, and video game writer Sam Maggs is someone who is no stranger to comic conventions or the geek world, so it’s only natural that Con Quest!, Maggs’ middle grade debut novel, centers around a comic convention. Con Quest! officially hits bookstores next year but today, Nerdist can exclusively reveal the rad cover as illustrated by artist Chris Danger.

Danger’s resume includes work with Disney XD, Comedy Central, and Cartoon Network, which makes him a perfect fit for a book about nerdy kids and their big fandom dreams. Check out the cover below!

Con Quest! centers around two twins who excitedly compete in “The Quest”: a nerdy scavenger hunt that comes with the chance to meet their favorite celebrity. It not only sounds like the kind of thing we’d want to do, it also sounds like an awesome adventure that celebrates fandom — and what could be better than that? The book is a fun romp through moments and references that any seasoned con-goer will know well, from cosplayers to Artist’s Alley to even the harder-than-it-looks-task of finding healthy food. But the twins, who have ditched their older sister Fiona to embark on this scavenger hunt, will have to deal with more than just figuring out clues if they want their ultimate prize…and they’ll have to do it all before their parents finding out that they’re missing at the biggest comic convention.

Con Quest! has been an absolute blast to write. I’ve been going to conventions for over a decade now, and there’s no experience quite like them,” Maggs told Nerdist. “I’ve met online friends for the first time at conventions; been nervous to the point of shaking when meeting my favorite celebs at conventions; cried on panels; found rare treasures; and, mostly, discovered some of the most brilliant, kind, wonderful people at conventions, whom I never would have had the chance to know otherwise. They’re magic, and I’m thrilled to be able to bring the joy and wonder of that magical experience to the page. I can’t wait for you all to meet Fi and Alex, the two nerdiest kids at GeekyCon!”

You can pre-order Con Quest! on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and IndieBound ahead of its release on June 23, 2020.
