The first season of Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was a devilish delight. Starring Kiernan Shipka as the titular teenage witch attempting to balance her magical life with her mortal everyday, it all concluded with Sabrina’s dark baptism and full acceptance of her witch persona.
Now, in the new trailer for the second season—appropriately dubbed “Part 2″—we see the ramifications of a Sabrina who’s gone full-tilt in the world of devil worship and black magic. And it looks like a ton of fun!
Looks like creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and his writing team are having the time of their lives with this chapter. Based on the comics of the same name, which were also written by Aguirre-Sacasa and inspired by the classic Archie universe character, the show is darker than its sister-series Riverdale, though both delight in the same sort of off-kilterness.Here’s the official plot description for season two:
Part 2 finds Sabrina exploring her darker side, curious to learn more about her heritage, while struggling to maintain her friendships in the mortal world. Romantically, Sabrina is caught in an unholy love triangle with between sexy warlock Nicholas Scratch and salt-of-the-Earth mortal Harvey Kinkle. Meanwhile, the Dark Lord, Madame Satan, and Father Blackwood continue to conjure chaos in the Spellman household and the town of Greendale. And they aren’t the only ones trying to raise hell. Everything is in question… relationships, identity, true intentions… when the devil’s work is at hand.
Yes, that means the Devil has come to Greendale, and we get a peek at him at the end of the trailer. We’re not sure who the actor is playing Lucifer Morningstar – he isn’t listed in any official material – but he sure looks handsome. Poor Sabrina… It must be hard to be enticed by so many beautiful men.
