If you’ve ever traveled abroad, or even just been to Las Vegas or a Disney theme park, you’ve likely seen some very impressive water fountains. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda Fountains in China spring to mind, and of course the Trevi fountain in Rome. Usually however, the most impressive ones are thought of as being that memorable because of their large size. But we have found one that is just as enchanting without needing to take up nearly as much square footage.
Thanks to the folks over at Geekologie, we’ve come across a fountain that might not be towering or complicated in its functions, but is no less magical to look at. This particular fountain is located in front of the Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences in Budapest, Hungary. It has a water spray that gives it the appearance of being a book with turning liquid pages. If you ask us, this one feels like it belongs at another well known school. And yes, we do mean Hogwarts.

As cool as it is, the fountain in Budapest isn’t the only book-shaped fountain known to exist. There is a fountain shaped like a stack of books at the Public Library in Cincinnati, Ohio. There’s another one located at the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library in Tennessee. And there is another in Xiamen, China. But none of these have the effect of the liquid pages turning, so we say the fountain in Hungary wins.
If for no other reason than it actually makes us want to crack open an actual book when looking at it. For that reason alone we deem it the coolest of the book-themed water fountains.
