Watch DC FanDome’s BLACK ADAM Sneak Peek

Before there was a DCEU or even an MCU, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced he would play DC Comics’ Black Adam in a feature film. And in July 2022, that movie will finally be up on theater screens. Not only will the Shazam! villain turned anti-hero make his debut in a solo film, but so will DC’s first-ever super team, the Justice Society of America. Black Adam sees Johnson reunite with his Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra.

At the virtual DC FanDome event, fans got their first look at the film in a special behind-the-scenes look. Johnson gave fans a sneak peek at the opening scene from Black Adam where his tomb is uncovered and he joins the 21st century. You can watch right here:

In the film, Teth-Adam emerges in the modern world after a 5,000 year exile. Empowered by the wizard Shazam, the hero of the fictional nation of Kahndaq now finds himself in an advanced world. One that is not used to his simple (and brutal) way of dealing with the bad guys. Joining him in the cast is Sarah Shahi, who plays Adrianna Tomaz. Longtime DC fans know that Tomaz becomes Teth Adam’s love interest. And eventually, the embodiment of the goddess Isis, and a hero in her own right.

The Justice Society are introduced to the DCEU as well in Black Adam. Among them are two legendary DC heroes, making their film debuts. Former 007 Pierce Brosnan is the sorcerer Dr. Fate, whose helmet of Nabu grants him the power of an ancient Egyptian wizard. Also, finally making it to live-action movies is Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge. Rounding out the JSA are its junior members, Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell). In the comics, both characters are inheritors of the mantles of classic JSA members the Atom and Red Tornado. You can see glimpses of their costumes in the images below.
