A teaser trailer for an upcoming horror film dropped today. Big Baby from director Spider One will bring back the classic horror writer trope in a brand new way.
In this Stranger-Than-Fiction-turned-horror, a writer spirals into insanity as he kills off his own characters left and right, using a man in a baby mask as his main villain. His characters come back to haunt him and beg for their lives.
Nightmares of a maniac killer in a baby mask inspire a horror writer’s new script. As his life begins to spiral out of control, he discovers Big Baby’s murderous rampage may be more than just fiction.
The trailer makes it clear the movie will be a classic slasher. The “Big Baby” kills various people in myriad gruesome ways. The more interesting part, though, is that the author is able to see and commune with his own characters, and that they seem entirely aware of the fact that he is choosing to kill them. This will provide some interesting tension.

The main killer says he is slaying “everyone who hurt [him],” so he will almost definitely have an elaborate, likely tragic backstory.
Krsy Fox, who appeared in Terrifier 3 and Little Bites (also by Spider One), is both starring in and producing the movie. Her co-star, playing the tortured author, is Brandon Scott, whose credits include Dead To Me and Grey’s Anatomy. Cher is an executive producer for the movie as well, and she served the same role on Little Bites. Spider One is an alias for Michael Cummings, Rob Zombie’s brother and front man of the band Powerman 5000.
The trailer promises plenty of action as well as interesting characters. It does bring into question, though, if this slasher will provide anything the last couple of hundred did not. Blood, gore, horrifying deaths and jump scares, most certainly. But characters with depth and a terrifying story? We’ll have to see.
Big Baby is set to come out August 7.
