Interview with the Vampire is coming back for more action and there will be one major change. Bailey Bass, who portrays teen vampire Claudia, will not return in Interview with the Vampire season two. Delainey Hayles will jump into the role of Claudia and replace Bailey Bass. Production for season two kicks off in Prague next week. As Deadline reports, AMC Networks released a rather vague statement about why Bailey Bass will no longer play Claudia on Interview with the Vampire.
“Bailey Bass is a talented actor who did a remarkable job bringing the character of Claudia to life in Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire. For a variety of reasons, Delainey Hayles will appear as Claudia in season two,” the network said in a statement. “We are grateful for Bailey’s unforgettable performance in season one and wish her nothing but the best.”
Bass also spoke up about the change; however, she did not give further details regarding her surprising exit from the popular series.
“Due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances I’m unable to return to Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire for the second season,” she said. “Playing Claudia has been a dream role and an incredible ride. I wish Delainey the best of luck in taking over. I cannot wait to watch. I’m extremely appreciative of AMC, the producers, Jacob, Sam, the crew and, of course, the wonderful fans.”
The other series regulars, including Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Eric Bogosian, Ben Daniels, and Assad Zaman are set to return for season two.
