AVENGERS: ENDGAME “Last Words” Posters Have Turned Our Hearts to Dust

In one of the more brilliant pieces of marketing for Avengers: Endgame, the folks at Marvel Studios released a series of posters honoring “the fallen,” or, to put it in a more blunt manner, all those heroes who were turned into piles of dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. It was certainly enough to get us all choked up at the thought of losing some of our favorites as victims to Thanos’ overly snappy fingers.

But now, a fan on Twitter who goes by astrocastiels has taken these posters and made us even more weepy-eyed than we already were. They’ve added the last words of of the fallen heroes to each one of their character posters. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man might have had the most memorable of those final parting words after Infinity War hit last summer, but truthfully, everyone’s outgoing messages ended up being poignant, as these posters remind us. You can check out all the rest of the “famous last words” posters down below:

Of course, as sad as all of the posters make us, we can all take comfort in the fact that most or all of these characters are very likely coming back to life at some point during Endgame. I mean, they kind of have to, right? Spidey has another movie coming out later this year, and judging from those trailers, he’s very not dead in it.

Plus, a Black Panther 2 is already announced, as is a sequel to Doctor Strange. I doubt either of these films is going to just be time lapse footage of dust blowing away in the breeze for a solid two hours. But I suppose when and how they come back is besides the point, because their dusting will always be one of blockbuster cinema’s biggest unexpected gut punches. And these posters remind us of why.
