After winning a bidding war for the rights to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, A24 is running full steam ahead with Leatherface. A while ago, we learned that there will be a TV series by JT Mollner with Glen Powell as a producer. But there is also a Texas Chainsaw Massacre film coming from A24 with Obsession horror film director Curry Barker guiding this reboot.

According to Variety, Barker’s plans for the reimagining of the original 1974 film is under wraps. And it is not clear if it will connect to the upcoming TV series in any way. Either way, fans are happy to see this franchise in the hands of A24, a company that’s become quite the force in the horror space.
This new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film will be produced by Roy Lee and Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures, and Stuart Manashil and Exurbia Films’ Pat Cassidy, Ian Henkel and Kim Henkel. Of course, there’s no casting information nor a release date window at this time, so we will have to wait until A24 is ready to rev up the chainsaw.
