A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ first season wasn’t as sprawling as Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, but it was still dramatic and full of political intrigue. It also featured one of the most gruesome, violent fights the Realm has ever put to screen. The battle between Ser Duncan the Tall and Aerion Brightflame was bloody and painful. But that’s just what we saw on screen. Things weren’t always as serious on set. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ season one blooper reel shows just how silly things could get while bringing the first tale of Dunk and Egg to HBO.
The Tourney at Ashford might have ended with the death of a prince, but things weren’t so deadly serious while making the show. This montage of bloopers, breaks, forgotten lines, and dancing reveals what it was like when things didn’t go right during A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ production.
It also shows that Peter Claffey truly was born to play the big, lovable hedge knight. Even when he breaks characters, he still feels like Dunk. Just look at this wonderful boy. (Big thanks again to Baelor Breakspear for saving his life. RIP sweet prince.)

If, like us, you were wondering how anyone kept a straight face around Daniel Ings as Lyonel Baratheon, the answer is they mostly didn’t. The Laughing Storm lived up to his name as he constantly made others (and himself) laugh. The fact that they ever got any usable takes—especially of Lord Lyonel performing that bawdy bar song—is really a testament to all involved.
This A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms blooper reel (in at least some form) will also appear as an extra on the show’s upcoming home release. We hope that version is even longer. The Tourney at Ashford might have proven deadly, but it’s fun to see that things weren’t so dire on set. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is now streaming on HBO Max.
