Which streaming service is the best one? Well that question is pretty hard for a lot of people to answer, especially when streamers either keep merging together or raising their prices to new heights. My answer to this question is, and perhaps will always be, Shudder. The horror streamer boasts pricing plans that start at $5.99 per month and has a treasure trove of content, especially indie flicks, documentaries, and spectacular horror anthologies. When it comes to the latter, Greg Nicotero’s Creepshow is truly a vibe.
It draws inspiration from Stephen King and George A. Romero’s 1982 Creepshow film but has truly taken off as its own little universe, complete with a comics anthology series by Skybound. Now, the Creep is coming to a tabletop near you with Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game, which Skybound will release this fall. (Thank you to Comicbook.com for bringing this to our attention!)
The game will allow players to become the Creep and build their own twisted tales using Story Cards. They will fill these scary stories with dread, thanks to Suspense cards. Others will try to throw a machete into their narrative with sabotage mechanics and other fun options. Comicbook.com’s interview with Garima Sharma, VP of Licensing for Skybound Entertainment, reveals that a single gameplay session should run about 40-60. That sounds like a fun way to spend a Fall Friday night. And, there are three ways to win:
1. Place high Suspense cards onto Villains and claim them when their story is done.
2. Push your luck with Suspense-Checking cards by correctly guessing the value of Suspense on a story.
3. Sabotage stories with low Suspense cards, making rivals end a story too soon and giving you points.
Right now, it’s not clear when pre-orders will open up for the game but it should be soon. Until then, fans can keep an eye on Skybound Tabletop’s website.
