Life used to be simpler, but not for the reasons you might think. Forget about complications created by the internet and social media. There was a time you only had to pick between two types of Doritos—Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch. But simpler doesn’t always mean better, because there are dozens of flavors to choose from today. From Spicy Sweet Chili or Poppin’ Jalapeno, you can personalize snack time to match your palette. And now noshers in America are going to have the option to select a flavor that has long been available to their Canadian friends. Pickle Doritos are finally hitting stores in the U.S.
And that’s a very big dill.
Customers in the U.S. have started spotting new Tangy Pickle Doritos in stores (which we first heard about at Delish). Pickle flavored-chips are not a new phenomenon in America, but this is the first time Doritos has dipped into proverbial the dill jar below the border.
Intense Pickle Doritos have been available in Canada for years, at least as far back as 2011. Though it’s unclear if they are still being sold or if they are just so popular they are sold out. Not that chip lovers in Canada are getting any sympathy from us. We waited forever for ketchup and All Dressed chips here.
Doritos Canada
The Canadian pickle chips definitely have their fans. But it’s unclear how, if at all, the U.S. version will taste different. We’re still not positive how you make ranch-flavored tortilla chips “cool.” So we’re not sure what the difference will be between Intense and Tangy Pickle Doritos. Our guess is the new Tangy style will be, ironically, more intense. Either way we’re sure both will still be “extreme!”
But until we get them ourselves we won’t have any idea. And that’s the price you pay for improve snacking options. Things get more complicated even as they get more delicious.
