LEGION Has Been Renewed for Season 3

In a world of great television getting axed and needing other networks or outlets to swoop in and save them (we’re looking at you, The Expanse and Brooklyn Nine Nine–it’s nice to know some of the shows we love are getting the love they deserve. One such example is FX’s amazing and mind-blowing riff on Marvel’s mutants comic, Legion, from Fargo creator Noah Hawley. Word broke Friday that FX has renewed the show for a third season, with two episodes left in the second. That’ll take some of the anxiety away from the finale, for sure.

FX clearly has no problem giving Hawley more to work with; they recently announced season 2 had a surprise 11th episode which will act as the season’s finale in two weeks. Eric Scrier, one of FX’s Presidents of Original Programming, said in a statement about the season 3 renewal, “Legion has redefined the superhero drama and exceeded all expectations as the intensity and revelation build through the second season.”

Schrier went on to say, “We are incredibly proud of Noah Hawley’s achievement and are honored to continue the series as it pushes the boundaries of conventional television storytelling. We are also grateful for the contributions of our executive producers, John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Jeph Loeb with Marvel Television, as well as our outstanding cast and crew of this groundbreaking show.”

Legion of course stars Dan Stevens as David Haller, a man who believes himself to be schizophrenic but who may actually be the most powerful mutant in the world. The amazing cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Bill Irwin, Jeremie Harris, and Amber Midthunder.

Legion season 3 will air in 2019, while the final two episodes on season 2 will air the next two Tuesdays.
