While most of us can agree that the Wonder WomanOpens in a new tab movie was pretty damn great, it was missing one thing–director Patty JenkinsOpens in a new tab forgot to throw in a nod to the iconic original Wonder Woman TV theme songOpens in a new tab from the ’70s! True, it would have been difficult to find a place to fit it in the movie, but c’mon…that theme song is SO identified with the character, that most people don’t just say the words Wonder Woman, they sing them to its tune.
Another superhero with an equally iconic theme song from back in the day is, of course, Spider-ManOpens in a new tab. The catchy opening tune to the character’s 1960s animated series is one of the great TV theme earworms, and it’s somehow never found its way into a proper Spider-Man film, outside of that one street performer singing it really badly in a subway station in Sam Raimi’sOpens in a new tab Spider-Man 2. But Spider-Man: HomecomingOpens in a new tab composer Michael GiacchinoOpens in a new tab has found a way to work the nostalgic track into the latest film’s score. And it’s about time, we say!

Although this symphonic version doesn’t contain such classic lyrics “spins a web, any size/catches thieves just like flies” or make any mention of Peter Parker’s radioactive blood, it is still a fitting tribute to the classic series that helped make Stan LeeOpens in a new tab and Steve Ditko’sOpens in a new tab creation from the pages of Marvel ComicsOpens in a new tab into a household name.
