Doug Jones Joins the WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS TV Pilot Cast

Update, 2/8/18:

Four more cast members have been added to the What We Do in the Shadows TV pilot, Variety reports. Doug Jones, Beanie Feldstein, Jake McDorman, and Mark Proksch are joining the line-up. We don’t know who they’re playing, but maybe they’ll be the werewolves (who are not swearwolves) from the mockumentary. If the pilot gets picked up, all four of these actors could potentially have recurring roles. They join the already announced Harvey Guillen, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Kayvan Novak..Previously:

FX has done its dark bidding. According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the network has claimed the pilot for the What We Do in the Shadow TV series. It’s based on the 2014 mockumentary of the same name about four vampire roommates living together and just trying to get by in the world/underworld. Discussion about bringing the concept to the small screen has been on the table since at least October. The movie’s co-director Taika Waititi said they–himself and fellow Shadows director, writer, and star Jemaine Clement–were trying to develop a version of the film set in the United States. And now, they have a pilot production order from FX.

More amusing, and yes, sexy vampires? I’ll take it.

THR calls the pilot a reboot of the film. It’s in the format of a half-hour comedy; the pilot will be written by Clement and directed by Waititi. They’re executive producing as well. So far, three cast members have been announced: Harvey Guillen, The IT Crowd‘s Matt Berry, and Kayvan Novak. Their roles haven’t been confirmed, but it’s likely they’ll be playing the TV versions of Vladislav, Viago, and Deacon. Berry resembles Clement, so perhaps he’ll be portraying Vladislav–if they keep the names from the mockumentary.

Are you looking forward to the TV version of What We Do in the Shadows? Do you think Clement and Waititi will make cameos as other characters (they have to, right?)? Turn into a bat, fly into the comments below, and let us know.
