Watch Hugh Jackman Narrate a Real Live Mario Kart Race

Imagine you’re in Tokyo on business and you come across a gang of go-kart drivers dressed as characters from the popular Nintendo game Mario Kart. That would be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to you in your life, right? Now imagine that you are also Hugh Jackman, star of such films as X-Men: Days of Future Past, Wolverine, and Logan, and that, even with your impressive personal history, it’s still the greatest thing that’s ever happened to you. Imagine how much joy you would feel in that moment.

Such is the magic that Jackman brought to Twitter today, when he shot a quick video of a Mario Kart race while on the Japan leg of his Logan tour. His glee is truly infectious, and I’m going to have a very hard time not repeating “Bowser” to myself in an Australian accent over and over again for the rest of the day.

The best part is that what Jackman stumbled upon wasn’t a flash mob or a weird miracle occurrence. It’s something that happens regularly in Tokyo thanks to MariCar, a company famous for its Mario Kart-inspired public go-kart tours. Although it might not be such a familiar sight in the future, unfortunately—according to Tokyo Weekender, Nintendo recently filed lawsuit on the grounds that that MariCar has been renting unlicensed versions of its characters, and that their name sounds too much like trademarked “Mario Kart.”

Still, even if MariCar falls off the Rainbow Bridge that is copyright infringement, at least Jackman will always have those memories of cheering on Mario and Luigi through the streets of Tokyo—and because he’s put them online, we’ll have those memories too. Plus all the ones from other people who’ve done the tours and posted them to YouTube, too:
