WHEEL OF TIME Animated Series in the Works from ARCANE Producer

A slew of projects based upon Robert Jordan’s fantasy novels are currently in the works. Popular for its immersive worldbuilding and epic characters, The Wheel of Time quickly became a best-seller. After a short run at Amazon MGM Studios, it is now in line for adaptation into an animated series, multiple feature films, and a video game. Arcane producer and League of Legends vet Thomas Vu joins iwot Studios to tackle the many projects.

Prime Video first adapted the fantasy series back in 2021 with a live-action television show. The streamer canceled the show after its third season. Nearly a year later, Vu and iwot Studios are breathing new life into the well-loved chronicles. Under a new partnership between iwot and Initiate Entertainment, the pair will produce a new video game, animated feature films, and a new animated television series for The Wheel of Time. None are attached to streamers or distributors at this time.

Vu joins Initiate Entertainment partner Anthony Borquez, iwot Studios CEO Rick Selvage, and chief operating officer Larry Mondragon. Selvage and Mondragon were both producers on the Amazon series.

iwot confirms that the upcoming projects are separate from any previous announcements. Those include The White Tower 3D prequel film, Kari Skogland’s live-action Age of Legends trilogy, and the open-world AAA RPG video games already in development at iwot Studios. Vu speaks highly of the expansion.

“I see tremendous opportunity in expanding The Wheel of Time into fully authentic, integrated, interactive, and animated storytelling experiences,” he said in a statement. “The depth of the mythology provides a foundation for sustained, multi-platform franchise growth.”

And it is a truly exciting venture indeed. The transformative series, written by Jordan and finished by Brandon Sanderson, unlocked an expansive world of magic and adventure. Readers praised it for its well-written storylines and character arcs. Amazon’s The Wheel of Time series ended far too soon in our books, so we find it delightful to see the IP’s revival.
