VENOM: THE LAST DANCE’s First Trailer Is the Beginning of Symbrock’s End

Symbrock is not too pure for this world. It’s too pure for all worlds. That’s probably why Venom’s home is coming to Eddie’s to break up the duo in their last movie together. The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance features an all-out assault on both Earth and the (singular) pair, in what promises to be an emotional fight to the end.

That’s not all this promo is teasing, though. It also connects directly to Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s end-credits scene with Eddie and Venom. And even better? Venom: The Last Dance will even feature a symbiote horse.

Name a more iconic duo. We’ll wait.

What’s happening in this intergalactic war? The official Venom: The Last Dance synopsis from Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel offers a curt description of the tough choice Eddie and Venom will face:

In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

Written and directed by Kelly Marcel, the film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and the returning Stephen Graham as Detective Mulligan.

MCU fans will notice that Temple’s fellow Ted Lasso alum Cristo Fernandez will also appear in Venom: The Last Dance. He’s reprising his brief role as a bartender from Spider-Man: No Way Home. That mid-credit scene showed Eddie magically transported back out of the MCU’s prime world. But only after he left a small piece of his symbiote behind. This trailer shows the the government securing that little black goo before it can break loose, raising the question of how any of these Venom shenanigans will connect Sony’s live-action Spider-Verse and the MCU. Of course, the presence of Chiwetel Ejiofor and Spider-Man actor Rhys Ifans further complicate these potential connections.

How does/will that make sense? (Could Doctor Strange star Ejiofor secretly be a Baron Mordo Variant who can move between the multiverse?) We’re obviously not supposed to know now. All we’re supposed to do is get excited for the Symbrock’s finale outing as a couple. And also we should focus on the symbiote horse, which is almost as important.

Venom: The Last Dance will horse around (that is release) in theaters starting on October 25, 2024.
