V FOR VENDETTA TV Series Coming to HBO, James Gunn and Peter Safran to Produce

Remember, remember the fifth of November. Yes, we are already a few days past that infamous date that V brought people together to stand against a corrupt regime. But this news feels like it is right on time. Twenty years after the release of V for Vendetta, there is a TV series in the works at HBO. For fans of the film (like me), this is truly exciting news. According to Variety, the V for Vendetta TV series will have none other than James Gunn and Peter Safran as its executive producers with Pete Jackson penning its scripts.

Warner Bros. Pictures

Right now, reps from HBO, DC Studios, and Jackson are all staying mum. But perhaps there’s a little more work to be done before they come out with a big announcement. In a world that’s fraught with political chaos, this type of show feels very prescient. For those who don’t remember, V for Vendetta is about an anarchist named V who wears a creepy Guy Fawkes mask and challenges the British government in a near future where the country is under fascist rule.
