There might not be any new live-action Transformers movies on the horizon for the immediate future, but Netflix has just revealed something perhaps even better for longtime fans of the franchise. Netflix and Hasbro have joined forces with Rooster Teeth to create an all-new series featuring the robots in disguise. Chapter One of Transformers: War for Cybertron, called Siege, premieres later this year on the streaming giant. And now, we have our first teaser trailer for this epic new adventure, which you can check out down below:

This new series brings the Autobot and Decepticon conflict to a new generation, with Siege containing six, twenty-two minute episodes, complete with a new animation look and style that presents the Transformers robots like you’ve never seen them before. The Transformers: War for Cybertron trilogy will uncover the events that are at the core of this legendary franchise. Siege shines a spotlight on a critical time in Transformers history on their home planet. A second chapter called Earthrise, will follow shortly after Siege, with a third, unnamed chapter already in production.

This new series serves as a reboot of sorts for the long running franchise, taking elements from the classic ’80s Generation One version, some elements of the live-action movies, and mixes them together to create a new beginning for the saga. Rumors abound that a big screen reboot of Transformers is currently under way; it would come as no surprise if the War for Cybertron Trilogy forms much of the basis for what that will eventually be. You can read the official synopsis for the series down below:

War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege begins in the final hours of the devastating civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The war that has torn apart their home planet of Cybertron is at a tipping point. Two leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, both want to save their world and unify their people, but only on their own terms. In an attempt to end the conflict, Megatron is forced to consider using the Allspark, the source of all life and power on Cybertron, to “reformat” the Autobots, thus “unifying” Cybertron. Outnumbered, outgunned, and under SIEGE, the battle-weary Autobots orchestrate a desperate series of counterstrikes on a mission that, if everything somehow goes right, will end with an unthinkable choice: kill their planet in order to save it.”
