Michelle Yeoh and Pete Davidson Join TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS

The Transformers franchise is returning to the big screen with a return to the ’90s. Paramount has announced the title of the seventh film in the franchise. Fans of the Beast Wars computer-animated series will finally be seeing some of their favorite robots join the fight in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. But the movie won’t be a straight adaptation of the show. Because this prequel will change the time and setting of when the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons made their presence felt on Earth. And it’s also going to have an excellent cast.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts‘ Cast

Joining the cast of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts are Michelle Yeoh and Pete Davidson, admittedly, two very different figures. But we’re interested to see how they fit into the mix. Yeoh will voice the Maximal Airazor, while Davidson will bring to life the Autobot Mirage.

Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback are the stars of this upcoming Transformers movie. And  Collider first reported that Ron Perlman would provide the voice for the Maximals’ leader, Optimus Primal. Though the character’s original voice actor on Beast Wars was Garry Chalk, Perlman played the character on the animated series Transformers: Power of the Primes. Peter Cullen, of course, will voice Optimus Prime.

Rise of the Beasts‘ ’90s Background

During a virtual production kickoff event, Paramount shared the title of its next big-budget sentient-robot blockbuster. The film’s title will have ’90s kids ready to line up for opening night. The movie will be based on the Beast Wars: Transformers animated series. It ran for three seasons and 52 episodes from 1996 to 1999. The show took place in the “future” on a dangerous planet. It starred the descendants of the Autobots and Decepitcons fighting for the future of their two factions. In reality, they waged war on a prehistoric Earth. Where, notably, no humans existed.

But the film won’t be following that exact timeline or setting. Even if the show’s main groups will all be involved, the movie will star human characters too. This is the film’s official logline from Paramount:

Returning to the action and spectacle that first captured moviegoers around the world 14 years ago with the original Transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.

The movie is set to release on June 9, 2023.
