TOY STORY 5 Trailer Has Woody Return to Battle New Tech

The toys are back in town. Unfortunately for them, they’re not alone. New, modern tech wants to replace them in the fantastic new trailer for Toy Story 5. But those old playthings aren’t going down without a fight. They have a young girl who needs them more than ever. They also have an old pal to help them in their mission, as we finally know how Woody will find his way back to his old playroom.

One of the greatest, most beloved franchises in movie history is back for its fifth big screen installment, and it’s truly a meeting of old and new. Toy Story pitted an old toy against a new one. Now Toy Story 5 is pitting old toys against new tech. But this time the fight isn’t about which one of them will be a child’s favorite. It’s about doing what’s best for Bonnie, as a flashy screen is the last thing she needs. Here’s the official synopsis from Pixar:

The toys are back and this time, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?

This trailer shows how Tom Hanks’ Woody will rejoin the group despite leaving them at the end of Toy Story 4. He’s answering the call (with a little less “hair” than before) and falling right back into his old routine with Tim Allen’s Buzz Lightyear. Other returning alums include Joan Cusask, John Ratzenberger, Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, Keanu Reeves, and Tony Hale.

Other newcomers include Craig Robinson as Atlas, “a cheerful talking GPS hippo toy.” Shelby Rabara will play “the excitable camera toy Snappy. Scarlett Spears voices Bonnie. And Conan O’Brien will play a potty-training device called Smarty Pants.

Oscar winner Andrew Stanton (WALL•E, Finding Nemo) directs. The film is co-directed by Kenna Harris (Ciao Alberto). Legendary composer Randy Newman is also back to make it five-for-five.

Will the old toys stay relevant or lose out to a new-age replacement? We’ll find out when Toy Story 5 comes to theaters on June 19, 2026.
