The Toy Story franchise is one of the most successful and beloved in film history, and with good reason. It was the first full-length computer-animated film ever, it launched Pixar, and in and of itself, the franchise epitomizes all movies that are fantastic and can appeal to virtually every type of audience. Naturally, it has inspired a lot of works by fans that pay tribute to their favorite film, and there’s one on the way that’s probably better than most of them: A pair of brothers have been working on a live-action remake of Toy Story 3, and they recently shared a new trailer for the upcoming project (via Geekologie).
Right off the bat, the most impressive part is the bedroom, which is amazing and is basically a facsimile of the movie version. Beyond that, though, there’s a lot of great work here. The live action elements don’t look too separated from the aesthetic of the film, and when it’s just the toys involved in the scene, there’s some not-too-shabby stop-motion animation that brings them to life. It’s an endearing project, and the brothers say it’ll be done at some point next year, because otherwise it probably won’t happen:
“For way too many years now, my brother and I (with the support of our awesome family and friends) have been working on a shot-for-shot recreation of Toy Story 3. This project has been an incredible undertaking, and we’ve made the decision to have this complete by 2019. At this time, I’m not quite sure what a release will look like, but I do know that this has to be done by next year. We’re both pursuing college and full-time careers right now, and it’s time to wrap this side-project up.”
Is this the best Toy Story fan project you’ve ever seen (or fan project for any sort of interest)? Let us know what you think down in the comments!
