Although The Walking Dead flagship series has been over for a few years now, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down, with two spin-offs currently in production. One of those, The Walking Dead: Dead City, focuses on characters Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), as they venture into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan together, despite Maggie’s hatred of Negan for murdering her husband, Glenn, years prior. AMC is set to premiere the third season this July, and now, we have our first trailer. You can watch the intense teaser trailer for season three of The Walking Dead: Dead City right here:
Alongside the teaser trailer, here’s the official synopsis for season three of The Walking Dead: Dead City from AMC:
In season three, Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?

The Walking Dead: Dead City trailer shows how Maggie sees the island of Manhattan as different and filled with potential. In her mind, it can actually be a thriving community in a New York City surrounded by walkers. But going by the history of this franchise, we know it won’t be an easy task.
The first season of Dead City premiered in 2023. However, the WGA strike that year postponed production for the second season. The next season finally premiered in 2025, after the show’s production resumed a regular schedule. In addition to Cohan and Morgan, season three also stars Jimmi Simpson, Raúl Castillo, Aimee Garcia, Michael Emery, and Logan Kim, who plays Hershel, Maggie and Glenn’s now-teenaged son. Kim replaced Kien Michael Spiller, who played the character on the original The Walking Dead. The first episode of season three premieres on AMC and AMC+ on July 26.
