It’s already been a banner year for horror, but it’s about to get even better. Just not for the reason you might expect. Instead of delivering screams Adult Swim‘s new sketch horror comedy show is going to deliver laughs. And we’re confident it will do exactly that after seeing the trailer for The Terrors Of Jordan Mendoza.
Yeah. In. We are all in. This show could not possible be more in our wheelhouse. And apparently our wheelhouse is located inside Jordan Mendoza’s brain. He not only stars in the series, he created the quarter-hour show which he also directs and executive produces. (No word on if he handled catering but we won’t rule it out.)
Warner Bros. Discovery says the sketch show blends “sharp comedy with surreal horror” as it “dives deep into the subconscious to explore fears that are both deeply personal and strikingly universal.” Unsaid is that description is that it looks really freaking funny. It certainly has a litany of great guest stars to help make that true. Season one will feature appearances by Thomas Lennon, Marc Maron, Haley Joel Osment, Randall Park, Wanda Sykes, Eva Victor, Fred Melamed, and Steve Buscemi.
“There’s nothing more exciting than finding a creator with a voice that feels completely their own, and Jordan is exactly that,” said Cameron Tang, SVP, Head of Development and Current Series for Adult Swim, in a statement. “He’s funny, brutally honest, and impossible to mistake for anyone else. This show lets him fully do his thing, alongside an incredible collection of performers eager to step into his unique and unsettling world.”
We won’t have to wait long to see these nightmares come to life. The Terrors Of Jordan Mendoza debuts on Adult Swim at midnight, September 13. If it’s as good as we hope horror’s banner year is going to get even better.
