THE MANDALORIAN Seeks Redemption in Intense Season 3 Trailer

The Book of Boba Fett helped made it a lot easier to wait for new episodes of The Mandalorian. The spinoff series reunited Din Djarin and Grogu after their heartbreaking farewell. But now that the little green Force user has left Luke Skywalker and his Jedi training behind, they’re ready to roam the galaxy far, far away together again. And we have a better idea of what lies ahead for them on their latest journey. The newest trailer for The Mandalorian season three features a whole lot of Mandos and their home planet.

This series sure does know how to deliver a great trailer. We’re ready to join the fight for Mandalore. We also can’t wait to see the world’s tiniest Force user harnessing his powers to save the day. Again. And we hope someone wakes up to the growing threat of a resurrected foe. Unfortunately it seems too many people want to pretend that’s not happening.

But The Mandalorian season three also seems primed to explore more of Grogu’s past, based on what we see in the trailer. That Jedi scene is likely another flashback to Order 66, which we know Grogu survived at the Jedi Temple. Does that have anything to do with why Dr. Pershing is seen on what appears to be Coruscant? We don’t know, but we can’t wait to find out.

Season three’s official synopsis also provides some insight into what we can expect this year. From Disney:

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

In addition to Pascal’s Mando, season three will also feature other series regulars. That includes Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze), Amy Sedaris (Peli Motto), Emily Swallow (the Armorer), Omid Abtahi (Dr. Pershing), and Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon). Christopher Lloyd is also join rumored to join them in season three, as is SNL alum Tim Meadows.

Show creator and head writer Jon Favreau also serves as an executive producer. As does Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard will return for directing duties this year. The directors of the eight-episode Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, and Peter Ramsey join them as episode directors.

The Mandalorian, with an eye towards both the past and the future, returns to Disney+ for season three on March 1.
