THE LAST OF US Season 2 Releases First Trailer, Confirms 5 Year Time Jump

The Last of Us season two has released its first trailer and it is beyond epic. The logline for the series also confirms we’ll be seeing a five year time jump from season to season, which makes sense to move the story forward. Watching this trailer, we know our hearts are about to get majorly broken when The Last of Us season two finally arrives. Everything starts out so peaceful and lovely, but we know nothing can stay that way for very long. Inevitably, suffering and danger will descend on our favorite characters, both from internal and external forces alike, and from humans and infected in equal measures. Phew. This The Last of Us sneak peek is a good one. And it also gives us many looks at some game characters from The Last of UsPart II that we are pretty excited/very nervous to see.

Check out The Last of Us season two’s dramatic trailer in full below.

In addition to the trailer, HBO released a logline for The Last of Us season two, which reads:

After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.

No! Not a conflict with each other. We can’t bear it, but we know it’s happening, since Joel lied to Ellie in a major way at the end of The Last of Us season one. If only he could have told the truth, maybe things would play out a little bit differently. But alas, we don’t watch shows so that characters can make good decisions do we?

In addition to Joel and Ellie, the trailer also reveals to us some highly aniticipated faces from The Last of Us games. Personally, we are INCREDIBLY excited to see live-action The Last of Us‘ Dina, played by Isabela Merced. We can already feel her chemistry and connection with Bella Ramsey’s Ellie in this trailer. Of course, we also get our first look at Kaitlyn Dever as Abby… Everyone who knows The Last of Us knows what darkness this character foreshadows. But we can’t wait to see her come to life on screen either way.

The Last of Us season two will arrive in 2025. Recently, Casey Bloys, the CEO of HBO and Max Content, noted it would likely arrive in the first half of the year.
