Ryan Gosling Is a Movie Stuntman Fighting in the Real World in THE FALL GUY Trailer

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt didn’t take home Best Supporting acting Oscars at the 2024 Academy Awards. They were still two of the night’s big winners, though. In addition to Gosling’s glorious “I’m Just Ken” performance, the pair stole the show when they came out to honor Hollywood’s stunt performers. That’s when they engaged in some good old-fashioned “Barbenheimer” trash talk that showed just how much natural chemistry they have. But in case you need further proof they’re a perfect duo, the latest trailer for The Fall Guy has provided it in spades. It has plenty of guns, swords, explosions, car crashes, punches right to the face, and laughs.

A romantic-comedy full of ridiculous stunts starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt” is one of the most bulletproof ideas in recent Hollywood history. But the person behind the film is also a big reason to be excited for this film. It comes from former professional stuntman, director David Leitch (Bullet TrainDeadpool 2). This movie is a tribute to the unsung people who help bring movie magic to life by risking life and limb.

Only in this case, Gosling’s stunt performer will be doing that offscreen. Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Universal Pictures:

Ryan Gosling stars as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, played by Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt—goes missing. While the film’s ruthless producer (Hannah Waddingham), maneuvers to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying (with limited success) to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.

The Fall Guy trailer is a wild ride, indeed. The film also stars Winston Duke and Stephanie Hsu, in case the cast wasn’t already talented enough. And the script comes from (Hotel Artemis).

The Fall Guy crashes into theaters May 3. On that night we’ll all be big winners.
