Moving is never easy, especially not for a family with kids. But what if you could not only relocate with your house, you could take up residence somewhere else with your entire neighborhood? Would that make things easier? According to the trailer for The End of Oak Street the answer is a definitive “no.” At least not when that unplanned change brings you to a strange world where dinosaurs live next door.
Well, at least they didn’t have to pack. That’s a positive, right? Of course it is! No one likes packing. Problem is that’s the only good part about this unexpected move. Obviously it’s hard to become fast friends when you live in a new place. But it’s especially hard when your new neighbors are prehistoric monsters.
So what exactly is going on in this strange story? How did an entire street suddenly find itself in a totally different place? Here’s the official synopsis from Warner Bros. Pictures:
After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.

The End of Oak Street comes from writer-director David Robert Mitchell (It Follows, Under the Silver Lake). He also serves as a producer alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams, as well as Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, Matt Jackson, and Tommy Harper. The film also stars two Hollywood heavyweights in Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. It also features Maisy Stella and Christian Convery.
How will this family cope with a bizarre and deadly living situation that feels like The Twilight Zone meets Jurassic Park? We’ll find out when we pack up our cars and voluntarily go to theaters to see The End of Oak Street later this summer. It debuts in theaters and IMAX on August 14.
