The Duffer Brothers Tease STRANGER THINGS’ Ending with Funkos

The Duffer brothers recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. There, Fallon asked them to recreate Stranger Things 5‘s ending with Funko dolls of all the characters. Of course, there’s no telling how serious the Duffer Brothers are about what they are hinting at in this diorama. But the pair do seem to take the assignment seriously. Below, you can see basically the full image of Stranger Things 5‘s ending that the Duffer Brothers put together with Funko dolls. (Just add Hopper next to Eleven and Robin next to Jonathan.)

Here’s what we got in the Duffer Brothers’ rendering of Stranger Things 5‘s ending. In one corner, we see Holly, Max, Derek, and interestingly… Nancy? Does Nancy somehow make it into the flesh wall where Vecna is keeping Max and Holly, and where Derek is likely headed after being snatched by Vecna at the end of Volume 1?

Meanwhile, Eleven is hanging out in a glass of water. Guess that means she’ll be resurrecting a sensory deprivation tank for maximum power amplification… Unless she’s, you know, drowning. Gulp! We hope it’s the former—beware Vecna! Then, in the middle of the Stranger Things ending diorama, there’s Henry, then Will, then Vecna, one on top of the other. In our first-look clip from Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, we saw Joyce speculate that Will could break into Vecna’s hive mind again and kill him. Is that what we’re looking at here?

Next, Joyce, Lucas, Dustin, Mike, and Jonathan are kind of hanging out. Notably, Jonathan isn’t with Nancy in this look at Stranger Things 5‘s ending. And neither is Steve. Could we be free of the love triangle forever in Stranger Things 5‘s ending? We sure hope that’s what the Duffer Brothers are telling us. We also wish that Dustin and Steve were a little closer. We want them to be friends again! But mostly, we don’t like Steve hanging off the end of the table. (And eventually falling off.) Stop teasing Steve’s death in Stranger Things 5‘s ending, Duffer Brothers!!

Eventually, we see Hopper added by Eleven, and Robin and Erica are there too. Their positions don’t give too much away. Something that is interesting, though, is that the Duffer Brothers got rid of the Barb doll IMMEDIATELY. We know Barb is dead. But we still hoped we might see some resurrection happening in Stranger Things 5‘s ending. And where is the Eddie Munson doll?

Is this an accurate depiction of Stranger Things 5‘s ending by the Duffer Brothers? We just don’t know. But we’ll find out soon. Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, releases on Netflix on December 25, 2025. It will arrive at 5pm PT/8pm ET. Stranger Things 5, Volume 1 is now streaming.
