Horror is on a serious upswing right now, with hits like A Quiet Place and The Nun lighting up the box office. Now, the producers behind the ultra-successful The Conjuring universe of films, James Wan and Gary Dauberman, are bringing us a new kind of scare fest based on the myths and legends of Mexican culture The Curse of La Llorona. You can check out the film’s first official trailer and poster right here:
Directed by Michael Chaves, who just got the job of directing The Conjuring 3 based on early buzz and reactions for this film, The Curse of La Llorona (which means “The Crying Woman” in Spanish) stars Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, and Patricia Velasquez. Below is the film’s first teaser poster, and its official description:“La Llorona. The Weeping Woman. A horrifying apparition, caught between Heaven and Hell, trapped in a terrible fate sealed by her own hand.  In life, she drowned her children in a jealous rage, throwing herself in the churning river after them as she wept in pain. Now, La Llorona creeps in the shadows and preys on the children, desperate to replace her own. In 1970s Los Angeles, La Llorona is stalking the night—and the children. Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona’s deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay, on the fringes where fear and faith collide.”
The Curse of La Llorona is set to hit theaters on April 19, 2019.Are you excited about this new supernatural thriller? Be sure to let us know your thoughts down below in the comments.
