The Best Things on Netflix Streaming This Month

Welcome to our The Best Things Streaming column where each month we’ll run down the best of what’s hitting your fave streaming channel! This month Netflix is stuffed to the brim with a selection of highly-anticipated originals, some hit indie-flicks, the must see sequel to one of their biggest original rom-coms, some spooky horror flicks, and a brand new Pokémon movie!

Locke & Key (Feb 7th)
Two Locke children look at a key by a lamp

It’s not hyperbolic to call Locke & Key one of the best horror comics ever made. Gruesome, heart wrenching, bittersweet and beautiful, scary and sweet, it’s a total joy to read. The series follows the exploits of Tyler, Bode, and Kinsey as they explore the beautiful and strange Keyhouse Manor, which is home to some mind-bending keys that are intrinsically connected to the family and the tragedy that brought them to the house. This is one of our most anticipated series of the year and we can’t wait to check it out.

Good Time (Feb 11th)
Robert Pattinson looks disheveled in Good Time

Though his early career may have been defined by his role as a shiny vampire in Twilight, Robert Pattinson has reinvented himself as a spectacular character actor with an eye for the weird and wonderful. Though he’d worked with Cronenberg twice before taking on the Safdie brothers’ breakout anxiety attack Good Time, this was really the film that made the world reconsider R-Patz. It’s also likely one of the biggest reasons that he was chosen to play Batman. Pattinson plays a desperate young man on a quest to save his brother after a failed robbery. If you loved Uncut Gems, this will be a must watch this month.

To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (Feb 12th)
Lara Jean and a boy stand under a beautiful cherry blossom tree

After the smash-hit success of their YA adaptation of Jenny Han’s best-seller To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, it’s no surprise that Netflix has made a sequel based on Han’s beloved follow-up that will drop just in time for Valentines Day. The first film saw Lara Jean (Lana Condor) fall in love after her secret never meant to be shared love letters were sent to her crushes, and the second entry into the teen rom-com series follows our heroine “as her relationship with Peter continues to grow, Lara Jean reunites with another recipient of one of her old love letters.”

Girl on the Third Floor (Feb 22nd)
CM Punk looks into the camera scared

Queensbury Pictures

We’re huge fans of both CM Punk and Travis Stevens here so it’s unsurprising that Girl on the Third Floor was one of our fave film fest horror offerings last year. If you want to get a feeling for what to expect when the film hits Netflix in Feb then check out what our own Kyle Anderson had to say in his review. “Don Koch, a husband and soon-to-be father buys a big ol’ house in the ‘burbs and decides to renovate it himself to prove to his wife Liz (Trieste Kelly Dunn) that he’s not a screw-up. Don’s not totally alone, though; he’s got his trusty Alsatian, named Cooper. And he’s got a weird-ass house fulla ghosts. Of course, he doesn’t know that right away.”

I Am Not Okay With This (Feb 26th)
Sophia Lillis in I'm Not Okay With This

If you watched The End of the F***ing World then you’ve probably already fallen in love with Charles Forsman’s cynical teen tales. I’m Not Okay With This is another story adapted from Forsman’s comic of the same name, and this time it follows a young girl, Syd as she deals with her shitty teenage life and her burgeoning superpowers. We’ve already watched a couple of episodes and the show might just be an even bigger hit than Forsman’s first Netflix offering.
