The Best Things on Netflix Streaming This Month

Welcome to our new look The Best Things Streaming column where each month we’ll run down the best of what’s hitting your fave streaming channel! This month Netflix is offering up a whole bunch of Holiday treats, a new Scorcese film, and some highly-anticipated Netflix originals.

The Irishman
Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Ray Romano, in The Irishman

Martin Scorsese’s Netflix debut has been lauded by critics and eagerly awaited by fans and on November 27th you’ll be able to watch it on Netflix. The film is based on a notorious true story and the official description gives a little more insight into what can be expected. “In the 1950s, truck driver Frank Sheeran gets involved with Russell Bufalino and his Pennsylvania crime family. As Sheeran climbs the ranks to become a top hit man, he also goes to work for Jimmy Hoffa — a powerful Teamster tied to organized crime.”

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power S4
She Ra and the Princesses of Power

This beloved reboot of the classic He-Man spin-off has already garnered a whole realm of fans since it debuted on Netflix last year. The beautifully animated series comes from the mind of Noelle Stevenson and reimagines the cult fave cartoon for a whole new generation. In case you haven’t fallen in love with She-Ra, Glimmer, and co. then (what are you doing??) here’s the official description to give you a little more context. “In this reboot of the 1980s series, a magic sword transforms an orphan girl into warrior She-Ra, who unites a rebellion to fight against evil.”

The Knight Before Christmas
Vanessa Ann Hudgens in the Knight Before Christmas

Vanessa Hudgens is really carving out a space for herself as the star of “kooky Christmas movies” and we LOVE IT. After last year’s very entertaining The Princess Switch she is returning to Netflix for another even more high concept Holiday movie about a time-traveling knight. Yep, in what is essentially just a gender-swapped redo of the horribly underrated Enchanted, Hudgens will play a teacher who falls in love with a cursed knight who is stuck in the modern-day. Is it our most anticipated film of the season? Maybe…

Klaus movie on Netflix poster

Netflix’s first 2D animated film is headed to screens just in time for the holidays which is perfect as the charming flick is centered around the origin of Christmas and the titular bearded hero. Apparently the story centers on an unexpected public servant who accidentally uncovers the red-suited supernatural gift giver and changes the world forever. “After proving himself to be the worst postman at the academy, a postman is posted to a frozen town in the North where he discovers Santa Claus is hiding out.”

The King
Robert Pattinson in The King

The battle of the haircuts is here! Netflix’s highly-anticipated William Shakespeare adaptation will be arriving in November as Robert Pattinson in a Klaus Kinski wig and Timothée Chalamet with a bowl cut go to war in The King. In case you aren’t well versed in the series of plays known as the “Henriad” here’s what The King is about.”Young Henry V encounters deceit, war, and treachery after becoming King of England in the 15th century, in the aftermath of his brother’s death.”
