Your Dog Will Give Thanks for Busch’s New Turkey ‘Beer’

Autumn brings a cornucopia of flavors with it. As the days get shorter, our cups overrun with pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider. Just as pecan pie and butternut squash fills our plates. But the most important food of the season is the one at the center of fall’s most important meal: a Thanksgiving turkey. Only this year it’s also at the center of an especially strange product. Busch is now offering a turkey broth “beer.” And while that’s weird enough, what makes it even more bizarre is who it’s for. This Turkey Beer isn’t for your dinner guests, it’s for your dogs. Don’t worry, though. It won’t actually get your pet drunk.

Busch’s new limited-edition, non-alcoholic Turkey Brew (which we first heard about at DesignTAXI) is a holiday beverage for thirsty, meat-loving pups. The company says the all-natural product features “only fresh ingredients.” That includes: vegetables, herbs, spices, water, and turkey broth meant “to provide your best buddy with a nutritious and tasty snack that helps to promote a healthy digestive system.”

It will also provide an interesting topic of discussion for Thanksgiving dinner. This is one product that we doubt many of your guests will expect to see. (Raising the possibility one of them might actually drink it!)

And Turkey Brew could possibly even save your entire holiday. When Uncle Chuck inevitably decides dessert is the right time to start talking politics, quickly change the subject by mentioning the unusual liquid Fido is drinking. Who can put a price on that!?

Well, Busch can and they did.. You can order this dog broth from Anheuser-Busch’s Shop Beer Gear online site. It only comes in four packs of 12 ounce cans for $15. That’s pretty much the going rate for most specialty brews this day, but you can’t give those to your dogs. And don’t they deserve a special treat during a season defined by all the ones we get to enjoy?
