This Synth Mashup of TV and Movie Theme Songs Oozes Nostalgic Vibes

We hope we don’t sound too “get off our lawn” right now, but they sure don’t make TV and movie theme music like they used to. We still get a few memorable ones here and there, like Alan Silvestri’s Avengers theme. But quality theme songs are few and far between now. Back in the day, we got iconic theme songs that have remained in our hearts and souls forever. Recently, YouTube channel CLMC Music decided to mash together several of these theme songs, all performed on a Korg Kronos 61 and Korg Kronos 88 synthesizer keyboard. You can listen to an hour of these delightful, nostalgic mashups in the video below:

Most of these theme songs are from pop culture of the 1980s and 1990s. But there is a dash of 1970s goodness in there as well as some from the 1960s. Some of these go particularly well together, like a pop culture peanut butter and jelly. Terminator x Predator? They’ve fought in the comics, but on synthesizer, they are a match made in geek heaven. Another no-brainer match is Ghostbusters and Gremlins, two movies that, interestingly enough,, came out on the same weekend in 1984. All you ’90s kids will especially love the Marvelous mashup of X-Men: The Animated Series and Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

For the horror fans, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” blended with music from Friday the 13th 3D is perfect for spooky season. Another excellent example, and the oldest music included, is Batman ’66 and The Munsters, two of the grooviest 1960s TV theme songs. Some music is more recent, however. Alan Silvestri’s previously mentioned Avengers theme x Star Wars’ Imperial March is a wonderful musical version of good vs. evil. If you need a little nostalgic serotonin release in these troubled times, there are worse ways than spending an hour listening to these.
