SUPERNATURAL is Developing a WAYWARD SISTERS Spin-Off Series

Praise Chuck, Supernatural fans, because we are officially getting a Wayward Daughters spin-off!

Supernatural has been on the air since 2005, and while it’s amassed quite a loyal following, most fans are quick to point out that the show (despite the masses of female fans) is pretty dude-heavy. Not only that, but the women featured in the show have a habit of being killed off in pretty horrible ways—from burning alive on a ceiling, to being stabbed to death in a bathtub, or mauled to death by a hellhound. So when characters like Sheriff Jody Mills, Sheriff Donna Hanscum, Claire Novak, and Annie Jones showed up, fans started spread their desire to see a spin-off focusing on these amazing female hunters. Sheriffs Jody and Donna ( Kim Rhodes and Briana Buckmaster, respectively) even got in on the action, launching several charity campaigns that sold tees using the name Wayward Daughters. Still, it was unclear if there were enough fans in the Wayward Daughters camp to persuade the CW to launch a spin-off.

According to Deadline, there most certainly were enough of us. The CW is officially developing a Wayward Daughters spin-off, which will actually be called Wayward Sisters, that will focus on Sheriff Jody and the family she’s amassed of women “orphaned by supernatural tragedy.” Since Jody is the main character of the show, it stands to reason we’ll see her two adopted daughters, Claire and Annie, and will likely (hopefully) see a lot of her fellow sheriff bestie, Sheriff Donna. We can also hope to get the occasional appearance from our favorite hunter-brother duo, Sam and Dean Winchester ( Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles). However, while all of the above is highly likely, Kim Rhodes is the only actor officially tied to the project at this point.

The spin-off will have a backdoor pilot in the upcoming thirteenth season (kind of like what they tried to do with the ill-fated Bloodlines pilot), so we won’t have to wait too long for our first taste of the show. There’s no official release date for Wayward Sisterss just yet, so let’s hope we don’t have to wait too long to get more amazing adventures with our favorite sheriff/hunter!
