The Super Bowl is the perfect time to promote something super. And there’s nothing more super coming to theaters this summer than Supergirl. The film starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El will take us into the origin story of Superman’s cousin. We’ve seen quite a few clips from Supergirl in previous teasers and a trailer, but this Super Bowl one is adorable because it shows how she met Krypto.
We see her holding her precious doggo back on her home planet of Krypton, which is obviously the inspiration for the name of her furry friend. “Krypton didn’t die in a day. The gods are not that kind,” Kara says as things go up in flames. She’s obviously battling some internal and external forces, which play into her issues with drinking a little too much alcohol.
While her cousin is a hopeful hero, Kara sees the world through a more pragmatic lens. And that will make her just the kind of hero that the world needs. Also, I really, really love how Blondie’s “Call Me” is Supergirl’s theme song.
What Is the Release Date for Supergirl?

Supergirl will fly into theaters on June 26.
