Oh, Joyce. Our favorite over-protective mother has WAY over-corrected. She’s gone from insisting that Will can’t even so much as blink in Vecna’s direction to deciding it’s time to put him RIGHT in the thick of it in our first clip from Stranger Things 5, Volume 2. But, I’m going to say it’s probably too much, too soon for Will. As we probably all already know, Will officially has powers. They aren’t exactly like Eleven’s, but Stranger Things 5, Volume 1 revealed to us that if Will is close enough to Vecna’s hive mind, he can tap into Vecna’s powers and even use them against him. Now, in this first clip from Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, Joyce wants Will to get close to the hive mind, tap into it, and kill Vecna with his own powers. Is that a good plan? What Happens in the First-Look Clip From Stranger Things 5, Volume 2?
In this first-look clip from Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, Joyce tells the assembled group of Will, Mike, Lucas, Erica, Murray, and Robin. “We get Will close to the hive mind, once he is, he jacks back in. Only this time he doesn’t go after a Demo, he goes after Vecna. One blow, takes him out, ends him, ends his army, ends this nightmare.” Joyce says it with such assurance in this Stranger Things 5, Volume 2 clip, but then opens up the floor to others. She really is learning.
Robin thinks it’s a great idea, but she sounds a little dubious. But she’s still catching up on the fact that Will took out three demogorgons with his mind powers. But Mike and Lucas hype up Will’s powers. Murray is in with a colorful phrase, “Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit.” That quote from the first-look Volume 2 clip might be the most unhinged thing we’ve ever heard on Stranger Things. Robin calls Will a Wizard, but Erica and Mike disagree. Will is a sorcerer on Stranger Things; his powers are innate. Okay, nerds! But we do love this Mike and Erica bonding.
Can Will Defeat Vecna with His Own Powers?
The question of how the team can defeat Vecna on Stranger Things is a REALLY good one. And this first-look clip from Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, paints a picture of how they might try. But we feel like, even though Will has found his powers, Vecna is still way more powerful than him. Even if they did catch him unaware in his mind, is it really likely Will can kill him with one blow before he fights back?
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, releases on Netflix on December 25, 2025. It will arrive at 5pm PT/8pm ET. Stranger Things 5, Volume 1 is now streaming.
