Things at Walt Disney Animation are getting a little bit strange. Thankfully we’re not referring to Stranger Things, as that is a thing of nightmares where the Mouse House is probably concerned. Rather, we’re in for an exciting new animated film promising a whole lot of action. Strange World sounds a bit like an Indiana Jones adventure with the classic Disney Animation fare. Action? Check. Adventure? You bet. Stunning visuals? Obviously. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade who embarks on an exciting adventure. Where is he going? We’ll find out sometime very soon. But it’s a brave new, uncharted world for Searcher and his team in the new teaser.
The short Strange World teaser doesn’t give away too much from the film. But it starts out with a lovely vintage Disney energy. It certainly has us thinking about how cool it would look if Disney fully revisited its early days with a vintage project.
In the film, Gyllenhaal plays Searcher Clade, whose father was an explorer. Searcher is… not. He’s a farmer who doesn’t seem too keen to follow in his father’s footsteps. But he winds up on a giant adventure nonetheless, exploring an exciting, and maybe deadly, new place.
Here’s a little bit about the film:
Jake Gyllenhaal lends his voice to Searcher Clade, the son of a steadfast explorer. The original action-adventure journeys deep into an uncharted and treacherous land where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest—and by far— most crucial mission.
The film looks incredibly sweet. We don’t know who is joining the Spider-Man: Far From Home villain just yet. But Searcher Clade is not alone on his quest, so we’re looking forward to learning the full voice cast soon. Raya and the Last Dragon‘s Don Hall directs with Qui Nguyen serving as co-director and writer. Roy Conli produces.
Strange World releases on November 23, 2022.
