Steve Carell Launches Rockets in New SPACE FORCE Trailer

Space Force, co-created by Steve Carell and The Office‘s Greg Daniels, is one of our most anticipated new comedies of 2020. The “new kind of workplace comedy” will star Carell as an ambitious general. He’s given the unenviable task of leading America’s new intergalactic military branch. (Where they come up with these ridiculous ideas, we have no clue.) And the newest trailer for the series is the latest reminder why we’re so excited for it. It features Steve Carell accidentally launching rockets and training “spacemen” for moon battles… which sounds exactly right for 2020. But now we also have something else to look forward too. Space Force is getting its own behind-the-scenes podcast.

From the series’ official Netflix synopsis:

“A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and ‘Spacemen’ are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.”

In addition to its (unfortunately) timely premise, Space Force also boasts a pretty incredible cast. It will feature John Malkovich as the organization’s lead scientist. Ben Schwartz, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow, Don Lake, Diana Silvers, and Tawny Newsome also star on the show.

This latest trailer is our best look yet at how absurd the show will get. It makes clear this isn’t just about interoffice memos and inane meetings. America isn’t just trying to go to the moon. It’s trying to kick ass when it gets there. Whose asses will it be kicking? Uh…do space rocks have butts? If they do, Steve Carell will find them and shoot them.

Netflix has also announced the show will be getting its own podcast. Inside Joke: Space Force Podcast hosted by series star Jimmy O. Yang will also debut on May 29, the same day the show comes to Netflix.

“Space is hard, but this podcast makes it look easy. Join host and star Jimmy O. Yang starting May 29th as he welcomes the cast and crew behind the new Netflix series Space Force for a 10-part podcast exploring the stories behind the show. New episodes Mondays and Thursdays each week, with guests like Steve Carell, Greg Daniels, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, Diana Silvers and many more.”

Space Force was already one of our most anticipated shows of 2020, and now it’s one of our most anticipated podcasts.
