For the 40 plus years since fans first met him as a little farm boy from a galaxy far far away, Mark Hamill has been a bastion of joy and happiness in the universe and on Thursday he was celebrated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fans, family and his Star Wars co-stars gathered on the red carpet outside of Disney’s El Capitan Theatre, to luxuriate in the legacy of Luke Skywalker, and the photos are pure joy.
Harrison Ford and George Lucas were leading the tributes to Mark, as Harrison joked that “A lot more people turned up to my star,” while Lucas shared how proud he was of Hamill. It was a celebration full of smiles and laughs, but there was one noticeable absence. Carrie Fisher was long at the heart of everything great about Star Wars, and Princess Leia was missed today, as Harrison Ford gave her a touching mention at the ceremony. #RIPCarrie, the way she would have roasted Mark today would have surely been majestic.

As well as the original trilogy’s remaining stars, Hamill was joined by Kelly Marie Tran and Fisher’s daughter and new cast member Billie Lourd. Basically it was an all-star roundup on the Boulevard today to pay homage to one of the loveliest men in Hollywood, and you can check out more of the pictures in our gallery below!
